On 25 May 1898 when Vergie L. was 18, she married John L. Wilkening in Cole Co., Missouri.

On 4 Nov 1888 when James Henry was 28, he second married Martha Louvine Roach in Tuscumbia, Miller, Missouri. Born on 9 Nov 1871 in Missouri. Martha Louvine died in Bartlesville, Washington, Oklahoma, on 25 Sep 1934; she was 62.

They had the following children:

	i.	Myrtle Lee “May”. Born on 2 Sep 1889 in Tuscumbia, Miller, Missouri. Myrtle Lee “May” died in Tarkio, Atchison, Missouri, on 10 Jul 1969; he was 79. On 3 Nov 1907 when Myrtle Lee “May” was 18, he married Charles Franklin “Frank” Admire. Born on 8 Apr 1886. Charles Franklin “Frank” died in Tarkio, Atchison, Missouri, in Oct 1981; she was 95.

	iii.	Leona Letha Elizabeth. Born on 22 Nov 1894 in Tuscumbia, Miller, Missouri. Leona Letha Elizabeth died in Westmoreland, Pottawatomie, Kansas, on 25 Mar 1982; she was 87. On 16 Feb 1912 when Leona Letha Elizabeth was 17, she first married Hiram Edgar Clay in Eldon, Miller, Missouri. Born on 9 Jul 1889 in Olean, Miller, Missouri. On 11 Nov 1934 when Leona Letha Elizabeth was 39, she second married .

	v.	Asa Loyd Edward. Born on 25 Jun 1901 in Tuscumbia, Miller, Missouri. Asa Loyd Edward died in Oakley, Logan, Kansas, on 12 Jul 1974; he was 73. On 11 May 1925 when Asa Loyd Edward was 23, he married Belle Alberta Miller.
